This is a long, slim traditional pub with great character. Large oak beams, extensive wood paneling, and brickwork give a rich atmosphere.

It attracts a complete mix of types, from shoppers to families to regulars to youngsters, the latter especially in the evenings. The bar staff makes newcomers very welcome.
They serve a fair priced range of quality food including daily specials.
Upstairs is a 50-80 capacity function room for hire for parties and private lunches etc. The 1st license was granted in 1713 so the pub is likely to have been built just before then. Was renamed Hallinan’s in the 1950s.
In 1995, the downstairs bar was converted to toilets.
Feb 2019 it joined the City Arms in the joint first place as most popular pub in Cardiff, as voted by users of CardiffPubs.co.uk. Congratulations!
